CHICAGO – University of Chicago alumnus Max Hawkins was featured in the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) “Conversations About Race and Racism” story series on January 20.
The UAA’s website series seeks to lift the voices of people of color and recognize the challenges faced in both athletics and academics at the collegiate level. By sharing personal stories, participants hope to elevate the conversation about race to raise awareness and bring about change.
Hawkins played singles and doubles for the Maroon men’s tennis team from 2013-17. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences in 2017, and is currently in his final year of medical school at UChicago.
