CHICAGO – University of Chicago alumna Frances McDonald was featured in the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) “Conversations About Race and Racism” story series on January 12.
The UAA’s website series seeks to lift the voices of people of color and recognize the challenges faced in both athletics and academics at the collegiate level. By sharing personal stories, participants hope to elevate the conversation about race to raise awareness and bring about change.
McDonald was a four-year member of the UChicago volleyball team from 2014-17, playing primarily at outside hitter and defensive specialist. She graduated in 2018 with a pair of bachelor’s degrees in Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies and Philosophy. Currently, McDonald is a third-year law student at the NYU School of Law. She also serves as president of NYU Law’s Sports Law Association, 3L Advisor of the Black Allied Law Students Association (BALSA) and as an Article Selection Editor of the Review of Law and Social Change.
