KOLKATA: The Bengal government on Friday said doctors at ICU facilities in private hospitals will have to issue a death certificate even if the patient is discharged and dies before reaching another healthcare facility.
The state said there had been an acute shortage of ICU and CCU beds during the Covid crisis. In some cases, patients, who had been admitted to ICUs in private hospitals, chose to shift to government facilities. The problem arose if a critical patient died in the ambulance before their admission to a government hospital.
