Apollo, Medronic tie up for AI use in stroke managementHyderabad: Apollo Hospitals Group on Thursday said it has entered into a collaboration with medical solutions provider India Medtronic Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Medtronic Plc, for integrating the latter’s USFDA approved artificial intelligence (AI) platform for advanced stroke management at its hospitals.

Pointing out that this is the first time that AI will be used in stroke management in India, Apollo Hospitals said the software will provide automated analysis in less than two minutes, standardizing stroke diagnosis and empowering clinicians to make faster and more accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions.

As part of this tie-up, Medtronic will help bring stroke technologies, technical expertise, training and comprehensive stroke management with the integration of its AI platform at 10 Apollo Institute of Neurosciences at Apollo Hospitals across the country at Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Mysuru and Indore.

Pointing out that stroke is a major public health and the fourth leading cause of death today, Apollo Hospitals Group chairman Dr Prathap C Reddy, said: “There is an urgent need to improve the treatment and management of stroke using digital technologies. Today, AI platforms are improving patient care and outcomes every day and this partnership brings together Apollo Hospitals’ clinical expertise and the AI platform and stroke technologies from Medtronic to transform stroke treatment in the country.”
